
ABOUT MAR IVANIOS WELFARE SOCIETY
Mar Ivanios Welfare Society is a humanitarian concern of congregation of Sisters of the Imitation of Christ [Bethany Sisters], Pathanamthitta Province. This society is registered under the Cochin literary scientific and charitable societies Act XI of 1955. Its registration number is P.107/ 2010 June to promote the upliftment of the marginalized people living in the tribal area of Pathanamthitta district.
The various activities of the society include community health development programmes, Psycho- social Rehabilitation of mentally illed women, Vocational Rehabilitation of mentally and physically challenged, Skilled training for rehabilitated people, besides women empowerment programmes and a host of other activities.
OUR MISSION AND VISION
- To render any social and moral assistance for the betterment of life and the welfare of the people in the neighbourhood.
- To establish and run Creches, Libraries and Clinics for the people in the neighbourhood.
- To establish and run institutions for the rehabilitation and welfare of the poor and the aged by providing food, shelter medicines and necessities of life.
- To establish and run Adult Education Programmes and Computer training for girls.
- To enable the children and women to be self-reliant by engaging in cottage-industries like soap-making, umbrella-making, poultry-farming, bee-keeping, horticulture, handicrafts etc.
- To start a candle-making unit for the benefit of the welfare Centre.
- To organize and conduct meetings, seminars, conferences, study classes etc for the benefit of the public.
- To start cutting and tailoring unit for the women in the neighbourhood.
Candle Making unit
As a part of Vocational training programme, the inmates make Handicrafts, sewing dress, making candle etc.
Bethany Vocational Rehabilitation Centre
Bethany vocational Rehabilitation Centre is a centre for differently abled women.
St Mary's Book Centre
St. Mary’s Book Centre is situated in Pathanamthitta town, an outlet of Mar Ivanios welfare society.
